Cost management help with a Microsoft Project, Access Accounts link

By Global Research Partners
Johannesburg, 31 Oct 2001

Project managers and accounts staff can now work together more efficiently, following the inclusion of a new facility in Access Accounts that allows it to be put on the Microsoft Project Menu.

This new capability allows easy, two-way, integration of data between the Costing module of Access Accounts and Microsoft Project records.

Microsoft Project is one of the best software available for controlling and scheduling the availability of resources, and Access Accounts Costing module is the best software available for controlling project budgets, committed and actual costs. Projects entered into Access Accounts Costing Module can now have their progress reflected instantly in a Microsoft Project Gantt Chart without any re-keying of data. Thus, this new capability allows users to ensure that each job is profitable and on track at every stage of a project.

"This means businesses can now view an entire project quickly and easily," commented Paul Marketos, MD of Asyst International SA. For instance, a construction company can now track time, labour costs, who`s in charge, the different phases of a project, internal fixtures and fittings, and decoration costs all in real-time, 24-hours-a-day.

"There has always been a gulf between project planning software and a quality accounting solution, but this new facility will allow project managers and accounts staff to work together coherently and efficiently," continued Marketos.
