Credant Technologies delivers single solution for insider and external threats

Credant Technologies' Full Data Encrytion2 is redefining security for data residing on vulnerable endpoints, providing user-defined protection for applications and content, as well as full disk encryption.

The technology, included in the latest release of the Credant Mobile Guardian (CMG) v6.0 enterprise edition, works with both Windows and Vista platforms and doesn't compromise or impact existing IT operational processes.

Explains Sean Glansbeek, New Business Director of Seven Days Technologies, a mobile applications and data security provider that represents and distributes Credant's solutions: "With sensitive information literally walking around on thousands of endpoint devices - from laptops to smartphones, PDAs and USB drives - ensuring that data isn't lost, stolen or inappropriately accessed isn't simple.

"The traditional approach has been to simply encrypt everything, but while this provides some protection if the device is lost or stolen, it makes management and recovery difficult, and leaves a gap in terms of protection of sensitive data against insider threats. With governance high on the list of executive priorities, organisations are keenly aware that regulations do not limit accountability or liability to external threats.

"Credant's Full Data Encrytion2 technology resolves these challenges. It lets individuals 'lock' their own set of information through the use of a unique key, while allowing the sharing of data through the use of a second key. What this means is that if, for example, a service technician or administrator needed to work on a particular device, he/she would only have access to the system's operations."

The new CMG release also features a standalone version of CMG Windows Shield, which protects data at rest on computers that an organisation does not manage, such as those belonging to independent contractors, business partners and affiliates.

Enhanced management, audit and reporting capabilities ensure that any organisation can prove that data stored on a vulnerable endpoint was secured with encryption. In addition, the suite's integration with a market-leading forensics solution ensures forensics investigations can be performed without being hindered by encryption or compromising security.
