Repucomm, a reputation management and crisis management firm, released its Crisis Manager Toolkit on CD earlier this week.

The toolkit consists of a CD, which Repucomm CEO Deon Binneman says is a step-by-step workbook approach to writing a crisis management and communication response plan.

Crisis management is defined as "the ability to deal with contingency, so reducing the threat to people and property, adverse impact on normal business continuance and damage to a business`s reputation", something Binneman believes to be sacrosanct.

The toolkit is targeted at any crisis controller manager as well as public relations and communication managers. It attempts to guide them in minimising reputational and developing appropriate response plans so that negative media coverage can be minimised after a crisis has occurred.

According to Binneman, the toolkit is an overarching document that can be used by managers across all fields of work in their approach to crisis management.

Binneman says the toolkit is a useful resource that can assist any manager in the pre-planning phase and during a crisis, and can also serve as a benchmarking instrument.

The content of the CD is a compilation of research and is also based on previous situations that Binneman encountered and oversaw while in the field. The cost is R4 495.
