Cryptzone's AppGate VPN Client for iPhone, iPad launches on App Store

The AppGate solution from Cryptzone is a complete role-based access control system, integrating all necessary security, VPN and access management functionality into one easy to manage solution.

The availability of the AppGate Client for iPhone and iPad on the App Store completes Cryptzone's range of VPN clients. Cryptzone's timely release of this secure mobile client comes a month after Apple announced a record 18.75m iPhone sales and 4.69m iPads (1) during the second quarter. The consumerisation of IT is resulting in more executives bringing their personal devices into the workplace and blurring the line between personal and corporate information.

Unless managed in a simple and secure way, these mobile devices expose organisations to an increased risk of unauthorised network access, data loss and compliance failure. Using the AppGate client for iPhone and iPad in conjunction with the AppGate Security Server ensures iOS-based mobile devices are subject to the same corporate security policies and rules of access.

AppGate supports secure access to e-mail, intranet and other applications from an iPhone or iPad over standard bandwidth connections, which improves out-of-office productivity.

All traffic, including login information, is encrypted end-to-end between the AppGate Security Server and the mobile, protecting the system from phishing or man-in-the-middle attacks.

* Strong authentication
AppGate supports a range of authentication methods, including password, Radius and SecurID, SMS and chained authentication.

* Granular control of user access
Powerful rules and rights management tools give administrators complete control over user permissions. To further strengthen security, policies can be defined to limit access to particular servers, or based on criteria harvested from the device.

* Data leakage prevention
When an iPhone or iPad is connected to Cryptzone's AppGate server, all traffic flows through the secure VPN connection. This avoids split tunnelling and reduces the risk of a data leak.
