Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed CS Computer Services Holdings (CSH) which recently posted interim results far in excess of forecasts has acquired the South African interests of USA based frontline labour management software and hardware developer Kronos Incorporated.
Kronos Incorporated is the market leader in the field of Frontline Labour Management and Time and Attendance systems with a market share of 65% in the USA. Kronos has been present in South Africa for a number of years. It provides integrated software and hardward systems that improve workforce productivity.
These include time and labour, shop floor data collection and automated scheduling. Kronos offers a complete family of automated labour management products for companies of all sizes in a broad range of industries including manufacturing, health care, retail, hospitality, government and education. The impressive customer base of Kronos is evidence of the superiority/acceptance of the product. Major customers include Shoprite-Checkers, OK Bazaars, Pick `n Pay Retailers, Jet Stores, Edgars, KWV, Clinic Holdings Hospitals, Hilton hotel Group, Engen Refinery, Bell Equipment, Robert Bosch, Ilovo, Reckitt & Coleman, Cadbury`s and Nestlé.
CSH Chief Executive Officer Annette van der Laan says the deal is a winning formula for all concerned. "CSH has in one simple move added significantly to its ability to enhance its customers` profitability, and Kronos Solutions acquires an experienced, national conduit for its products into the South African market.
"Kronos` South African customer base has access to our national service and support infrastructure and is assured of the quality that is a CSH trademark," Van der Laan says. Renamed CS Frontline, the acquisition will make a positive contribution to the group`s current one-stop service solution, particularly as the synergies inherent in the deal come into play.
Kronos has been searching for a partner that would enhance its superior products with professional level of service and after-sales support, said Curt Bloom, Kronos VP of International Operations. CSH`s activities in the area of ERP implementation, training and support will add value to our increasing customer base in South Africa. We are also excited about the opportunities that CSH will afford our employees as well. CSH is an expanding professional organisation that will help us to maximise our opportunities in the South African market.
CSH is active in the large and medium size corporate arena, as well as the public sector. The company`s consulting, implementation and support of sophisticated information technology systems provide an ideal base from which to aggressively market Kronos in this country.
Furthermore, the fact that Kronos is designed to interact with the leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems adds more value to CSH`s activities in the ERP arena.
"Our SAP, Baan and Peoplesoft divisions are Kronos strategic business partners. Bringing Kronos into the group will enable these divisions to effectively market their products together with Kronos as an integrated solution," Van der Laan says.
CSH is a total business information technology company which helps companies use technology to gain a competitive edge and add to their bottom line.
"Labour is a key component in the competitive equation. Skilled personnel are a scarce resource that must be utilised to the fullest advantage to ensure companies are able to offer value to their customers.
"Furthermore, labour is costly and increasing a company`s ability to better manage its people resources has a direct effect on its profitability.
"Kronos provides the tools which ensure that the right personnel are in the right place at the right time and at the right cost," Van der Laan says.
Frontline labour management and Kronos expert Johan du Rand has been appointed Frontline`s managing director.
Du Rand says Frontline will follow the CSH philosophy of using technology as a business tool to enhance profitability for its clients.
