JSE-listed systems integrator CS Holdings has concluded a R10.4 million contract with the Netcare Group, the largest privately owned healthcare facilities network in South Africa, to provide Netcare with a nation-wide frontline labour management solution. In terms of the contract, CS Holdings` division CS Systems Integration will install the Kronos Frontline labour management suite at 43 hospitals and clinics within the Netcare Group. CS Holdings is the sole distributor of Kronos frontline labour management products in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to Carl Blake, a director of CS Systems Integration, the contract will revolutionize the labour management environment in the healthcare industry in South Africa in terms of labour cost control. "We view this as a landmark project in the healthcare industry which will assist Netcare in maintaining their position as a leading healthcare provider in South Africa."
"The aim is to improve management efficiencies, by effectively managing our labour resources. We hope to cut down on nursing agency fees through proper scheduling and control of staff, and expect a immediate benefit to our cost structures," adds Richard Friedland, chief operating officer for Netcare.
Blake concludes: "We will be implementing biometric terminals at all the Netcare hospitals, that will communicate to a central SQL database in Auckland Park, using the Windows 2000 server platform. We have been piloting the site for 6 months with a view to proving cost savings for Netcare by improving patient service and transferring control of labour management to ward level. We have managed to prove substantial potential savings on the patient-daycare ratio. The new system interfaces with Netcare`s existing ACCSYS payroll system."
