JSE-listed CS Holdings has entered into a strategic alliance for specific IT services with Steinhoff Africa, the largest furniture manufacturer in SA and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Steinhoff International Holdings Ltd.

The agreement sees Steinhoff Africa utilising the specialised services of CS Holdings` IT Solutions division for the support of Steinhoff Africa`s IT infrastructure, including the maintenance and support of all desktop computer hardware, desktop and local area management; some aspects of IT vendor management and IT management. In addition CS IT Solution` response centre services using the Global Event Management System (GEMS), will also be used.

"Servicing and supporting our Information Technology infrastructure professionally, has become increasingly important," says Enrico Liebenberg, IT director at Steinhoff Africa. "Steinhoff Africa operates in excess of 1300 workstations and servers at more than 60 locations countrywide." The geographical spread of the Southern African operations caused a strain on the in-house IT resources of Steinhoff Africa and, faced with ever-increasing costs of training, skills level maintenance and skills duplication in each of the regions, Steinhoff Africa took the decision to acquire the assistance of CS IT Solutions.

"From a management and control perspective, the strategic alliance and integration of the solutions into one means that their business process has been simplified," says Johann Kunz, executive director of CS Holdings. "Steinhoff Africa can now focus more resources on their core business, and leave some of the IT support and maintenance functions to us, as this is our specialty."

"CS IT Solutions, with their national presence, has integrated all the functions we required into one service package and has provided us with a single point of contact for the complete range of IT support services," says Liebenberg.
