It is all systems go for the CS Holdings annual Silicon Valley half-marathon taking place on Sunday, 21 March in Midrand. The race is open to all and should be a great energetic end to a wonderful summer.
The race is a half-marathon of 21.1km and commences at 7am at the Swiss Club, Moerdyk Road in Vorna Valley. Walkers are allowed in the race with sight impaired entrants participating free of charge. Six watering holes will be in place and medals will be awarded to finishers within the three-hour cut-off time. Lots of other spot prizes, including holiday breakaways, are available on the day with prize money also being awarded to category winners.
CS Holdings, the main sponsor, in conjunction with Midrand Country Striders, has been involved in this event for the second year running.
The main aim of this half marathon is to draw together the IT industry players within the "Silicon Valley" to participate in a joint fun-based event, demonstrating their involvement within the local community. Other sponsors include Microsoft, HP, SAP and Telkom Business.
"We are very excited that we are able to continue to be part of this marathon. The Midrand community is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity which, we believe, will form part of their year-plan for years to come," said Danie Greyling, events manager at CS Holdings. "This marathon is good for winding down before the Two Oceans marathon."
