CS Systems Integration, a division of JSE-listed CS Holdings, has successfully implemented a financial and operational system for Aqua Power, a supplier of hydraulic components to Southern Africa.
Aqua Power offers state-of-the-art, effective and reliable solutions for a wide array of fluid power applications. Its products range from Parker-Gresen valves and pumps, Bosch Rexroth Ag fluid power products and FE Myers pumps. The company also designs and manufactures powerpacks, manifold blocks and complete systems to provide a complete and effective fluid power solution.
"Aqua Power required a financial and operating system that could not only track all their parts and spares, but which would also function as a tool to aid in the manufacturing of their products," relates Ettienne van Niekerk, project manager at CS Systems Integration. "They had a very complex re-order methodology with which we had to comply - all stock is purchased from overseas vendors and therefore has different lead times. Consequently, we had to custom-write a special formula to incorporate this process."
Aqua Power was only prepared to use a brand product with a successful and stable reputation. "Four years ago, CS Systems Integration installed the original DOS system on which we were relying," says Aqua Power managing director David Clement. "The excellent service we received from CS Systems Integration prompted us to re-appoint them to upgrade our existing system to Accpac Windows on a Microsoft SQL database."
"Accpac has a strong inventory management system that allows for bill of materials, special price lists and serial tracking for warranty tracking purposes," says Van Niekerk. "Additionally, Microsoft SQL provides a more stable database than any other option.
"With the database being on MS SQL, we were able to offer Aqua Power more Accpac functionalities," he continues. "With the addition of extra tables, the information could be used in the special re-order reports that are so critical to them."
"This project also reiterates the user-friendliness of Accpac," adds Clement. "The DOS to Windows system upgrade proved such a relatively easy migration that minimal staff training was required. The new system was fully operational within two-and-a-half months of the project`s inception. Additionally, we look forward to exploiting its e-commerce potential in the future."
"This project provides an excellent example of how all the functionalities of Accpac can be used to integrate a company`s general ledger, debtors and creditors, inventory, procurement, payroll and invoicing, together with the cashbook," Van Niekerk concludes.
