CS Holdings, exclusive IT training provider to Absa, is to implement an e-learning solution at the financial institution that forms part of its blended learning and development strategy.
"We adopt a blended approach towards the delivery of training at Absa," explains Absa head: learning and development, Murray Burger. "We make use of a number of training delivery media, such as classroom instruction, self-study, CBT, interactive TV, video, audio and e-learning, all of which are blended together into the most cost-effective learning platform that caters for all learner needs. Our primary objective is to deliver speedy learning to the learner anywhere and at any time. This is in line with Absa`s learning and development philosophy of lifelong learning for lifelong employability.
"CS Holdings has contributed to this model by populating our e-learning platform with content on desktop IT applications," he continues. "Our relationship has matured to the extent where we now regard CS Holdings as an extremely valuable business partner and not merely a service provider. Both Absa and CS Holdings have benefited extensively from this relationship over the past three years."
As a people effectiveness company, CS Holdings` People Solutions division aligns organisations` education strategies with their business strategy, which involves bringing all the elements together in a blended training approach. Through a consultative process, the division works with its clients to identify their specific training needs, taking into account infrastructure requirements and limitations, employee learning styles and organisational cultures so as to develop an effective education strategy.
"We have a very good track record with Absa in the instructor-led learning delivery method, and have provided an average of around 1 000 training days per month in the last contract year," says Christine McDonald, managing director of the People Solutions division at CS Holdings. "The implementation of an IT e-learning solution at Absa now forms part of their blended training approach. Absa provided the platform, while we were instrumental in sourcing suitable e-learning content that addressed Absa`s infrastructure and desktop IT training requirements.
"We believe that our e-learning solution can add real value to Absa, enabling them to receive more value for money," McDonald concludes.
