CS Holdings wins Ster-Kinekor SAP support and maintenance contract

By CS Holdings
Johannesburg, 25 Jan 2000

South African cinema giant Ster-Kinekor Theatres has contracted JSE-listed CS Holdings to support and maintain its SAP R/3 system. The contract has been awarded to CS IMS, a company in the Integrated Solutions division of JSE-listed CS Holdings. CS IMS recently partnered Ster-Kinekor Theatres on its SAP R/3 implementation.

Ster-Kinekor Theatres is part of JSE-listed media group Primedia Holdings. It operates over 60 cinemas and distributes films to other cinema companies throughout Southern Africa.

The support and maintenance contract is significant for CS Holdings as it adds to the annuity business contracts the group has won and gives it an entr=E9e into full spectrum SAP provision.

"We don`t have the expertise to do all the maintenance on SAP R/3 yet," says Rob Haynes, Ster-Kinekor systems manager. "We have a small team of IT staff supporting 200 users throughout South Africa. We can do this only with the assistance of several external service providers. With the implementation of the SAP system, we are taking a phased approach. At this stage, most of the maintenance work we have comprises system enhancements and ongoing user-training," says Haynes.

"It makes sense to use CS IMS for this as they have built up expertise and knowledge on our system during implementation."

The 12-month contract will be reviewed and revised at quarterly intervals. CS IMS account executive Neels Bezuidenhout says the contract signals Ster-Kinekor`s confidence in CS IMS, not only as a SAP consultancy and implementation partner, but also as a longer-term service provider.
