CSC secures R40m contract

Cape Town, 22 Apr 2003

The South African operation of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has a R40.28 million deal with First National (FNB) to supply software for products.

CSC said in a statement the deal would run for five years and include the Hogan Umbrella software suite.

The Hogan Umbrella System from CSC is aimed at the banking industry and provides a logical environment in which application programs can be developed and operated while minimising the impact of change on the current operating environment.

"CSC and FNB are also pursuing further opportunities to work together and we are confident that the value of the deal could exceed the current level," says Martin Vergunst, MD of CSC South Africa.

Yatin Narsai, head of FNB technology, says the contract will help ensure that FNB remains at the cutting-edge of banking systems and technology.

"The ongoing investment in technology will enable FNB to continue providing a world-class banking service to its many clients in SA, Botswana, Namibia and Swaziland."
