Network security solutions vendor Cyberoam is targeting more channel in the South African market.

Speaking during the Cyberoam Partner Summit 2014 in Sun City yesterday, Adrian Anema, channel manager at Cyberoam SA, said the company is looking to sign up new partners and work more closely with its existing ones.

According to Anema, Cyberoam is a 100% channel-focused company, thus the need to grow its ecosystem.

Since Anema's appointment in March last year, Cyberoam has announced a number of channel partnerships, including Core Networks, Sizwe IT Group and Dimension Data.

The partnerships are in line with the company's recent expansion activities in SA - a security market poised to grow at a projected annual rate of 7.6% over the next five years. Most businesses in SA have begun to prioritise IT security to secure their headquarters, data centres and distributed branch networks. Moreover, SMEs are becoming major growth drivers as compliance regulations, earlier meant for large enterprises, are now also applicable to them.

"We want to bring more enterprise partners, the big five - which are the five top IT enterprises in SA - and incorporate smaller partners on board," he noted.

Anema also pointed out that by investing in the channel, Cyberoam is taking on more marketing strategies with its partners. "We want them to bring on more end-users, so we intend doing more market development funding with our partners."

He noted the challenges faced in the channel include lack of product knowledge, and that's why the company is driving more training and technical training.
