Taiwan-based networking products supplier D-Link International aims to increase its market share in South Africa by 20 percent, and awareness by 50% by the end of this year, according to D-Link International business development director Alan Sun.
"As business development director of D-Link International, I have made it my primary goal to strengthen the cooperation between us and our distributors, resellers and customers," he says. "We believe that it is in countries such as South Africa that we can have a most favourable effect on businesses."
While D-Link is dedicated to strengthening its position in the global market, it is also committed to delivering a more flexible pricing strategy. "Consequently, we are going to price our products between 20 and 30 percent lower than our nearest competitor," says Sun.
Founded in 1986, D-Link International is relatively new to the IT industry, yet the company is already perceived as a leader in workgroups communication.
"Although we are a fairly young corporation, we have been able to establish markets in 16 other countries worldwide," says Sun. "Last year, D-Link revenues were in excess of US$330 million and we are aiming for a growth revenue of at least 30 percent by year end."
This success is mainly owing to its Global Brand and Local Touch Strategy. "With branch and representative offices around the world, D-Link understands the current needs of local markets better than most opposition vendors," says Sun.
Besides the advantage of local touch, D-Link is also fully dedicated to building networks, delivering complete networking solutions for the small office/home office, workgroup/departmental and enterprise environments.
The company`s real strengths lie in its ability to offer high-quality products with the most affordable price point; plus a full line of hubs, switches, network interface cards, print servers, USB, remote access servers, modems, transceivers, routers and internet servers.
Additionally, the company`s stringent quality control procedures ensure high-quality products with a failure rate of less than 0.7 percent.
D-Link today appointed LAN Design as an authorized distributor of its networking products in South Africa. Through LAN Design, D-Link aims to channel various programs to serve its South African customer base efficiently and effectively.
According to LAN Design`s MD, George Smalberger, this new distributorship has opened new possibilities for both D-Link and LAN Design.
"Unlike many other distributors, LAN Design is focussed on the networking and communications industry," he says. "We also see rapid growth in the SME market, where D-Link products will play a significant role.
"Our fundamental aim is to establish the D-Link brand even more strongly in South Africa and we are looking forward to increasing market share for the range in the near future," he adds.
LAN Design is one of the leading networking software and hardware communication distributors in sub-Saharan Africa - with a product portfolio from network operating systems, management tools, e-commerce solutions, LAN products, mobile connectivity products and high-end WAN connectivity products.
