Network vendor D-Link is expanding its reach into Southern Africa with the appointment of Mustek as an additional distribution partner.
Having taken effect from New Year`s Day, the partnership was decided upon in Taiwan after serious negotiation, says Tobie Van Schalkwyk, country manager of D-Link SA.
Mustek manufactures PC-based products and services and markets and distributes Mecer products in Southern Africa. It has head offices in five major SA cities and approximately 1 300 resellers and distributors countrywide. The company joins Pinnacle Micro as a distribution partner for D-Link.
According to Van Schalkwyk, Mustek will distribute the full D-Link dealing range, from network cards to ADSL.
D-Link has steadily expanded its product ranges in the past year, and now supplies wireless networking ranges and a full complement of network equipment suitable for small, medium and large enterprises, says Van Schalkwyk.
"These products are being welcomed into the market with a high-level of manageability and very competitive pricing. With demand accelerating, we have engaged with Mustek to improve reseller access to our full product set in SA and beyond," he explains.
Van Schalkwyk notes that while D-Link is best known for its wireless network equipment, this perception is rapidly changing as the vendor drives into enterprise markets. As such, the organisation is establishing the appropriate distribution networks to accurately address the complete market sectors in which the vendor now plays. This means establishing the infrastructure needed to support these networks in SA, he says.
"Mustek is recognised as one of the foremost distributors on the sub-continent. With the conclusion of this agreement, we anticipate sustained growth, as well as improved support for our reseller base," says van Schalkwyk.
Initial attention is being paid to Southern Africa, but Van Schalkwyk says further expansion and partnerships are possible further up the continent.
