D-Link, supplier of networking products, today announced the availability of its DMF-560TXD PCMCIA PC card, which is part of a whole new series of new generation PCMCIA PC cards.
According to D-Link country manager, Bertus Moller, the DMF-560TXD is the perfect solution for LAN/WAN applications in one PC card.
"This multifunction PCMCIA PC card combining Ethernet/Fast Ethernet LAN and the power of a 56Kflex/V.34bis fax/modem that let users perform multiple communication tasks at the same time," says Moller
"The DMF-560TXD PC card features direct ports and is very easy to install. It plugs into a PCMCIA slot of a PC and connects directly to the phone line and the network. There`s no need for any media couplers. With the hot swap and auto-configuration capability, the card is a true plug-and-play solution for mobile users," adds Moller.
This multifunction PC card allows for fax/modem communications and network operation to be carried out at the same time, i.e. simultaneous network and modem connections. As a result, users can send faxes from a server, receive faxes over the modem and print them on a network printer, all in one step.
The DMF-560TXD provides a built-in high-speed 56Kbps modem. The PC card performs auto-correction of transmission/reception errors and provides data compression to increase the speed of data transmission.
Easy Internet connection is possible, because the multifunction PC card lets users dial into on-line services along with the ability to login to a network. These combined functions indeed maximise the overall performance of one single PCMCIA slot.
The LAN port supports both Ethernet and Fast Ethernet, auto-senses 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX connection and auto-negotiates between full and half duplex modes. Full duplex brings network speed to 200Mbps when connected to a Fast Ethernet switch.
"For users` convenience, the PC card comes equipped with a menu driven installation program for users running in a NetWare or DOS environment. A suit of diagnostic features provides a smooth installation process. Latest 32-bit Network Operating Systems (NOS) drivers are provided to support popular platforms such as Windows 95, 98, NT, the Internet`s TCP/IP, Novell NetWare, MS LAN Manager and others," explains Moller.
"The DMF-500 multifunction PCMCIA PC card series offers value for money without compromising on quality. Dealers are more than welcome to contact Charmaine Finniss at One Technology Group for more information on D-Link`s USB product range at (011) 254-2814 or via email at charmainef@otg.co.za," concludes Moller.
This multifunction PCMCIA card connects directly to the phone and the network without any need for media couplers. The card comes equipped with a 56Kbps modem and a dual-speed 10/100Mbps interface.
