Dade Behring South Africa, a subsidiary of the international clinical diagnostic products and services group, recently completed its move into the second phase of its implementation of the SunSystems financial software.
The company selected iLanga Systems, a division of the Business Unusual group, as the supplier and implementation partner for the project. Dade Behring has adopted SunSystems, provided by Systems Union, as the standard financial package for its small subsidiaries around the world.
SunSystems is a suite of financial solutions targeted at the burgeoning midmarket. It has secured more than 20 000 customers globally, and has a significant customer base in South Africa.
Bernard Vorster, General Manager of Dade Behring South Africa, says the first phase of the project was completed in March 2000, and provided Dade Behring with an integrated set of business and financial modules, including a ledger with multi-currency support, multidimensional analysis functionality, purchasing and inventory control.
The SunSystems integrated ledger simplifies consolidation issues, month and year-end routines, allowing Dade Behring head office users to consolidate the different subsidiaries into a single view regardless of language, currency or technology platform.
The second phase of the project focuses on the implementation of the sales and marketing modules of SunSystems, which will give Dade Behring the ability to tap into a range of management information such as sales margins, regional sales, and sales force performance.
Vorster says he has been impressed with the flexibility of the SunSystems package to date, noting that the package has proven to be adaptable to all of Dade Behring`s business needs.
"We selected iLanga Systems as the implementation partner after an evaluation of the proposals from a number of potential service providers. In terms of the company`s pricing, support resources, and commitment to our deadlines, we felt it had the best match with our requirements, " adds Vorster.
Dion Retief, MD of the Business Unusual Group, says: "SunSystems has a strong presence in the medical and pharmaceutical markets in south Africa and the rest of the world. Customers in this arena include the likes of Pfizer Laboratories, Smithkline Beecham, Johnson and Johnson and Glaxo Welcome".
This project was particularly challenging because of the aggressive timeframes that needed to be met, particularly in the first phase. Implementation started at the end of January and the non-negotiable deadline for completion was the beginning of March 2000."
