Dailymotion updates cloud streaming platform

French video sharing Web site Dailymotion has introduced a new version of its cloud-based video streaming platform, designed to provide brands, publishers, advertisers, broadcasters and other partners with a powerful suite of tools to instantly stream content online, IP&TV News reports.

The new version of Dailymotion Cloud is being pitched as a hassle-free option for video publishers wishing to pay for delivery of their content based on usage volume. Significantly, Dailymotion plans to add live broadcast and recording features to the new platform later in 2012.

According to PC Mag, Dailymotion Cloud offers a highly customised video player, with branding, colour choices, and custom buttons and progress bars.

Users also get detailed usage statistics, multiple simultaneous uploading, and they can transfer their existing Dailymotion accounts to the cloud.

The big differentiator is Dailymotion's pricing model, which is based on usage rather than the amount of video stored or the number of seats an organisation will use, Tech Crunch writes.

There's no upfront cost to set up an account, no yearly contracts to sign, no overage charges or different tiers of service to worry about. Instead, Dailymotion only gets paid as its customers' videos get watched.
