Damovo, Agita drive convergence
ICT solutions and service provider, Damovo UK, has partnered with Agito Networks to deliver fixed mobile convergence and mobile unified communications (UC) capabilities to enterprise customers, states News Wire Today.
Under the terms of the agreement, Damovo will integrate Agito Network's RoamAnywhere mobility router as part of its overall enterprise fixed mobile convergence solution offering.
Damovo says that utilising existing WLAN networks and extending enterprise PBX and UC functionality onto smartphones improves productivity and cuts costs.
Toshiba bullish on UC
Toshiba says it has seen an increase in demand this year for unified communications due to the current market conditions and the boom in fixed-mobile convergence, says Network World.
Jon Nelson, product marketing manager at Toshiba, says the company had seen an increase in demand this year for UC, and that Toshiba is driving its UC suite which runs on a media application server.
Addressing the need to help its channel partners in difficult economic times, Toshiba introduced its own economic stimulus package by offering channel partners incentives such as price reductions on leased demo equipment and warranties, and increased flexibility to use co-op dollars for technical training and certifications.
IBM assists public safety networks
EADS Defence and Security is set to embed IBM Tivoli Netcool software to improve network operations for public safety networks including police, fire and rescue services, border guards and other civil security clients, reports 7th Space.
IBM Tivoli Netcool software will be integrated in the EADS service management platform for private mobile radio networks, IP core, transmission equipments and application platforms.
IBM says that a significant part of its growth strategy is with its original equipment manufacturing agreements, through which vendors are embedding IBM software inside of their own products to develop new solutions.
