analytics baffle US federal agencies

Government Executive reveals.

In a survey co-sponsored by the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and Accenture, and released on Tuesday morning, 67% of federal officials said their organisation analyses data and uses the findings to make fact-based decisions, a process known as “data analytics”.

Of the respondents who said their agencies incorporate analytics, 46% reported a “low” integration of analytics into agency management. Another 46% said their agencies had “medium” levels of integration, while 8% said their agencies practiced “high” levels of integration.

“Given the conclusions of this research initiative, it appears while most government leaders have a general understanding of data analytics, they are not yet champions of integrating these tools into their agencies,” PRWeb quotes Relmond Van Daniker, executive director of AGA, as saying.

“While there is no clear plan to leverage the federal government's investment in data analytics, they are in a good position to build on the advances they have already made. Clear goals establish realistic bounds and reasonable expectations for projects, and incorporating data analytics into their practice will encourage federal leaders to establish a clear vision for projects and inspire employee support.”
