Data and telephony networks: No more tangles

Johannesburg, 04 May 2001

Fibreplus has launched the R&M Freenet, an assortment of fibre based network solutions for open office cabling designed by cable vendor, Reichle & De-Massari (R&M).

"R&M has created product families designed to merge traditional telephony solutions with data or networking applications," says Dave Fawcett, CEO of Fibreplus, one of South Africa`s fastest growing fibre optic cable and accessory distributors and the local distributor of R&M products.

The R&M "open office cabling" solution is a complete telecommunication solution for home working areas and for small-and medium-sized companies [SMEs].

Fawcett says it signifies the end of cable tangling associated with separate telephony and data networks and guarantee maximum network flexibility.

"It makes provision for the flexible extension of generic cabling systems and for access to the Telkom and other future public networks. In doing so, R&M is bridging the gap between LAN and WAN, specifically catering for the needs of the growing numbers of professional home users and small companies."

For cable installers, Fibreplus offers support in the form of staff training in drafting and implementing service solutions, and in follow-up customer service.
