Datacentrix expects business as usual despite the retirement of CEO Gerhard Uys.

Says Datacentrix chairman Gary Morolo: "This was a planned retirement and we had a succession plan in place. As such, we don`t expect any trouble." COO Ahmed Mahomed will succeed Uys.

Morolo says company shareholders can expect a relatively smooth transition. "He has been an important part of the company for many years, and our shareholders can expect him to continue the company`s success."

According to Mahomed: "There are no strategic changes planned for the immediate future. Datacentrix`s focus remains on the South African market, with a sustained focus on best-of-breed solutions through such as HP, IBM, Lenovo and Microsoft."

The company has targeted specific growth including selective outsourcing, managed print solutions, optimisation and niche solutions, says Mahomed. "Local government will also afford a number of opportunities for the company."

Mahomed joined Datacentrix in January 2002 as MD of the infrastructure business and was appointed to its board in March 2003. "Ahmed has a wealth of experience in management; his focus on financial disciplines, solid management skills, track record at Datacentrix and the respect he has built in the IT industry over the years were all important factors in our decision," Morolo states.

Uys will remain in his position until financial year-end February 2008. "After 21 great years with the business, I feel confident that with the current company performance and depth of management, the timing is appropriate for me to retire," he notes.
