Datacentrix named 'IBM Top Sales Performer`

Johannesburg, 05 Feb 2003

Datacentrix has, for the second consecutive year, been named as IBM`s Top Sales Performer for local business partners.

Claiming this accolade for a second year speaks of Datacentrix`s commitment to the IBM range, says Yushaa Matthews, IBM PCD Sales Manager for South and Central Africa. "For a business partner to do well in sales on a consistent basis they have to be knowledgeable and have the in-house expertise to maintain the product set - clearly Datacentrix fulfils these requirements."

Dion Visagie, IBM product manager at Datacentrix, says Datacentrix and IBM share a common attitude towards service and product quality. "Customers have come to expect top level quality when they install an IBM machine and the fact that IBM consistently delivers in this arena has made it a solid favourite within the local market."

Datacentrix is an IBM direct tier 1 business partner and authorised service partner, meaning that the company can purchase directly from international IBM sources, while also benefiting from joint marketing campaigns.

Datacentrix also holds this status with many of the other mainline product offerings in the IBM fold including xSeries servers and enterprise storage solutions.

Having consistently worked at upgrading its relevant skills and stocking its repair centre, Datacentrix performs as the IBM interface with its customer base, operating its own IBM warranty centre. Visagie explains: "The standard IBM service and warranty agreement forms part of each sale, however, depending on the customer`s needs, Datacentrix is able to upgrade that agreement to service level agreement (SLA) status. In terms of both these agreements, all IBM products purchased from Datacentrix will be repaired in accordance with the stipulated warranty conditions."

Matthews says IBM values its business partners. "Our business partners drive a significant part of our annual revenue, making them key to our future growth and competitiveness. That`s why we endeavour to create a successful business partner experience, making every effort to assist them not only in acquiring product but also enhancing their knowledge base and skills levels."

IBM has also recognised Datacentrix`s black economic empowerment (BEE) initiatives, enabling the companies to work closely together and demonstrate the true BEE success stories within the IT industry.
