IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix, has donated R20 000 to show its support for the `16 Days of Activism campaign` (25 November - 10 December 2003) - an international initiative aimed at curbing gender violence and its devastating effects on society.
The company has become increasingly active in driving social reform issues and projects that provide a forum in which organisers can develop and share new and effective strategies. Lolo Tshaka, Divisional Director at Datacentrix, says the donation affirms Datacentrix concern for social issues that affect individuals and families in SA and globally.
For the past 10 years, this campaign has been used to create a global movement to raise awareness, to address policy and legal issues, to campaign for the protection of survivors of violence and to call for the elimination of all forms of gender violence.
"Datacentrix`s aim is to make meaningful and sustainable contributions to the quality of life of communities and to contribute to the development of people in SA. This campaign links the issue of violence against woman and human rights, highlighting the end of the campaign on 10 December, which is Human Rights day," says Tshaka.
"Datacentrix is pursuing campaigns, such as the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign, that contribute to the generation of balanced, sustainable economic growth and development in SA and the empowerment of its people. This encompasses the promotion and enhancement of the economic and social prosperity of individuals and communities.
"As a company that focuses exclusively on SA, Datacentrix feels that we should plough something back into our community. We encourage other local business to do the same," he concludes.
