Datacentrix takes on HEAT

Infrastructure company Datacentrix (Pty) Ltd, the largest value added reseller of PC servers in South Africa, has become a distributor of Goldmine`s help desk software HEAT. Datacentrix marketing director Klaas Lammers says that HEAT is an ideal fit for the Windows environment that is becoming pervasive in large organisations. "Version 5.0 in particular has brought HEAT into the enterprise domain, with easier installation and use, increased out-of-the-box functionality, and enhanced support management tools."

Datacentrix, identified a need among clients for a help desk system that could be implemented with minimum disruption, but that was sufficiently robust to cope with large enterprises. "Typically Datacentrix provides infrastructure to government departments and companies with a nationwide presence," says Lammers. "We were finding that many help desk solutions required intensive consulting at the installation and implementation phase, and that the day-to-day business of the organisation was being disrupted. HEAT can be installed and customised based on best practices without the need for assistance from a costly on-site consultant."

"Datacentrix, having supplied infrastructure to so many large organisations, has a unique opportunity to service that infrastructure with a strong monitoring and management tool," says Stephen Buchalter, channel manager for HEAT and Goldmine. "After building foundational systems to log, track and resolve problem, Datecentrix can go further and address these organisations` total cost of ownership issues with HEAT`s management capabilities.

Containing the cost of infrastructure is a big requirement in corporates today."
