IT infrastructure and services provider, Datacentrix, has carried out a network infrastructure upgrade at two hotels in the Hilton Hotel chain.
The hotels, were upgraded from a 10Mb hub based network to a 100Mb switched network using HP 2524 switches, says Deon Grobler, Datacentrix account manager for the Hilton in Durban. The upgrade increased both networks` performance with additional speed and bandwidth.
"Datacentrix supplied and installed the hardware required to upgrade our system, they also conduct our printer maintenance," says Yogesh Pattni, IT supervisor at the Hilton in Durban. "After the upgrade, the speed of the network communication improved and clients are enjoying fast Internet connectivity.
"We decided to utilise the services of Datacentrix because of its competitive pricing and high level of service. The fact that the company is accredited to repair HP equipment was a further incentive as it can do the installation as well as maintain the switches and printers, negating the need for the Hilton to employ other service providers."
Grobler adds: "We perform printer repairs on-site and back up the switches if the hotel experiences any problems. Although switches cannot be repaired on-site, we replace the faulty switch with a temporary switch while the switch is repaired. This eliminates the inconvenience of being without crucial equipment and no down time is experienced while repairs are being carried out."
