Datacraft Asia, a subsidiary of Dimension Data, the London Stock Exchange-listed network systems integrator and e-business enabler, has been selected by DBS Bank, the leading bank in Singapore, to design and implement the first phase of its Internet-Protocol (IP)-based network.
The estimated cost of the network which is based on Cisco Systems` best-in-class technology, is S$25 million. The new network will provide high-speed bandwidth to the bank`s employees, suppliers, partners and customers throughout Asia, enabling them to quickly access and send information, as well as to run high-speed applications such as multiple realtime applications in the trading floor, multi-service video broadcasting, Internet-enabled contact centre and e-learning.
Bruce Watson, chief executive, Dimension Data network services, says the deal is a reflection of the high standing Datacraft has in Asia`s financial sector.

This prestigious line-up is now boosted by DBS Bank in Singapore the 70th largest bank in the world and the flagship of the DBS Holdings Group which controls the largest banking group in Southeast Asia," he adds.
The major network migration project to an IP network is part of DBS Bank`s strategy to web-enable its entire organisation throughout Asia, and to strengthen its network capabilities in handling sophisticated application demands such as e-commerce, e-business, increased customer care and workforce optimisation tools.
