DataPro launches Bandwidth Manager

Premier Internet Service Provider (ISP), DataPro, has announced the launch of Bandwidth Manager, an open source software application that gives companies the ability to shape their Internet traffic and prioritise their bandwidth as their needs dictate.

Believed to be an industry first, the Bandwidth Manager plugs into a network just below the firewall or router, "giving the company the ability to shape its bandwidth going in and out, said Douglas Reed, MD of DataPro.

"If the company runs a number of mission-critical software applications which need constant bandwidth, it can, for instance, restrict e-mail traffic to only 30% of available bandwidth, thus ensuring that these applications are not negatively affected by a sudden avalanche of e-mail.
