DataPro looks for black empowerment resellers

Johannesburg, 01 Apr 2003

Premier Internet service provider (ISP), DataPro, has announced its commitment to partner with black empowerment IT vendors. This comes as the government intensifies its drive to promote black empowerment initiatives.

Douglas Reed, MD of DataPro, said the company "is pursuing a number of possible black empowerment businesses that would partner with DataPro to provide a suite of Internet connectivity solutions".

These services are in line with the government`s policy of moving away from imported software licence fees and outsourcing non-core services. "We are committed to the governments aim of levelling the playing field in the South African economy and making business more representative of the population.

"If business at large does not take black empowerment seriously the economy will suffer in the long-term."

He said the company has developed and launched a number of value-added services, which go beyond "simply providing bandwidth".

"We need to appoint resellers to assist in the promotion of these services," said Reed.

"DataPro believes in building long-term mutually beneficial relationships with all partners. We have therefore undertaken to tailor-make partnership agreements to suit the reseller`s company culture and future strategies, offering them the opportunity to increase their bottom line while providing their clients a premium solution from a reliable industry leader with a reputation of service-delivery."
