DataPro offers ADSL users VOIP solution

Johannesburg, 21 Apr 2005

Listed telecommunications company and ISP, DataPro, is offering its ADSL subscriber base - which now numbers more than 5 000 - an SME VOIP solution.

Simon Butler, Product Manager: ADSL solutions, said the new solution could save SME customers thousands of rands a year and could mean the first step towards enabling the convergence of data and voice via ADSL.

"Customers opting for this new service offering can use their ADSL line for data and voice, saving them significantly on Telkom line rentals. In fact," said Butler, "this is arguably the beginning of how data and voice will be merged - and it is also very much the start of the converging benefits."

Although the variable costs associated with telephone calls might conflict with the very reason why business owners have opted for ADSL, DataPro believes the savings offered by VOIP will be substantial enough to move customers towards adopting this solution.

"In an effort to curb fluctuating call costs and the unpredictable nature of this, we have introduced call packages."

DataPro`s voice solutions, sold and marketed under the VoxTelecom brand, are sold in prepaid minute packages. The packages are aimed at offering customers maximum cost benefits while eliminating the concern of high and unpredictable call costs.

A further benefit of DataPro`s ADSL VOIP solutions is the cost savings associated with interbranch calls.

DataPro was the first company to offer the marketplace uncapped ADSL.
