Premier Internet service provider (ISP) DataPro could potentially save clients "hundreds of thousands of rands" by securing an enterprise licence for MailMarshal, a world renowned e-mail policing solution. Instead of having to invest up to R500 000 to purchase the software, DataPro clients will instead pay a small monthly usage fee.
"MailMarshal enables companies to manage their e-mail and Internet content, protecting their business` reputation and potential legal liabilities," said DataPro Technical Director, Gary Sweidan.
"Besides blocking spam and streamlining e-mail traffic and storage, e-mail abuse is avoided as MailMarshal can be primed to disallow certain types of mail messages, including mail that contains offensive language or large attachments, which are not related to business. MailMarshal also offers comprehensive anti-virus checking, making use of the McAfee Anti-Virus engine. The software generates detailed reports on SMTP activities showing which users viewed which pages as well as what mail they received and sent.
"We are constantly looking at ways to add value for our clients. The days of just providing bandwidth are now gone. ISPs need to ensure that they remain innovative if they are to prosper."
MailMarshal is arguably the most widely used content filtering product available in SA with both SMMEs and large corporates deriving benefit from the product.
MailMarshal is also included in the company`s Full Monty services offering, which, for the first time, provides users with a host of services in one software bundle. The Full Monty includes a workflow system, firewall, software to produce newsletters and marketing documentation, MailMarshal, a customer relationship management solution, asset tracking and a project management tool.
