Ascential Software has announced the general availability of DataStage XE 6.0, containing DataStage 6.0, MetaStage 6.0 and Quality Manager 6.0, DataStage XE/390 and DataStage XE Parallel Extender.
With this release, Ascential sets new standards in scalability, connectivity and ease of development, deployment and ongoing administration, says Julian Field, GM for Ascential Software South Africa.
"Gartner has stated that the bulk of growth in the data integration market will come from the medium to high end of the market, where complex requirements are still being met through custom development," says Field. "Other mid-tier customers who are outgrowing their existing tools will seek alternatives. Ascential with DataStage XE 6.0 and DataStage Parallel Extender is poised to fulfil these opportunities."
DataStage XE 6.0 has become the first data integration solution to achieve the milestone of unlimited scalability. It does this through its parallel architecture.
DataStage XE`s support for many native parallel stage types significantly reduces the development time for highly scalable and complex data integration tasks.
Among the new features in DataStage XE 6.0 are:
* Performance statistics: System administrators can reduce job execution time by determining what parts of their DataStage Server job design are limiting overall performance.
* Enhanced metadata report formatting: MetaStage`s reporting customisation capability can be leveraged to meet business users` explicit metadata comprehension needs.
* Oracle SQL Builder: with point and click, DataStage developers can quickly build optimised Oracle SQL reducing development time and increasing performance.
* Enhanced Teradata support: DataStage XE 6.0 has added support for the Teradata MultiLoad/FastExport facility for high-speed loading and unloading in and out of a Teradata database, and for data from IBM`s zSeries to Teradata, using the mainframe-hosted FastExport, FastLoad, MultiLoad, and TPump facilities.
"As business intelligence and CRM become mainstream, customers are demanding ever greater levels of performance and feature in their data integration tools today," says Field. "We can expect to see DataStage XE evolve in line with this requirement."
Existing DataStage and DataStage XE customers with current maintenance agreements can upgrade to version 6.0 free of charge.
