Dual-listed Datatec's subsidiary, Logicalis, has bought Inca Software, an IBM Cognos , for £7.3 million.

The deal, worth R83.6 million, will create one of the first UK systems integrators capable of delivering the full suite of next-generation business transformation tools: analytics, collaboration and cloud computing, Datatec said in a statement to shareholders.

Inca is a large IBM Cognos partner in the UK, says Datatec. It provides customers with the full suite of IBM business analytics products and has implemented solutions for over 400 companies across all industry sectors.

Logicalis will spend up to £7.3 million in cash, of which £6 million will be paid when the deal is completed, and £1.3 million a year later. The company will also take on £700 000 in debt.

Inca's interim results for the six months to July last year showed unaudited revenue of £4.3 million.

Datatec CEO Jens Montanana says the deal “opens up a new stream of expertise in analytics to Logicalis' customers”.

“By combining Logicalis' expertise in collaboration and cloud computing with Inca's expertise in business analytics, Logicalis will be able to help its customers to become smarter organisations,” he says. Both companies are IBM premier .

In January, Logicalis bought UK-based Direct Visual, an independent supplier of video communications that has an audio-visual and managed service offering, for an undisclosed amount.

Direct Visual has annual revenue of about $15 million, or R105 million.
