By Datatec
Johannesburg, 07 Dec 2000

Logical, Datatec`s UK-based e-business integration and services company, has announced it has appointed Urs Brawand as its worldwide director of e-business solutions.

Brawand previously held the position of president and managing director of Swiss-based e-integration and services company Conexus AG. He was the co-founder of Conexus AG and its spin-off company, Conexus Global Information, which was created to deliver e-business focused solutions. Both are now part of Logical and key centres of excellence that will facilitate the roll-out of Logical`s global e-business solutions . Brawand`s role at Logical will include growing the company`s e-applications portfolio, the building blocks of any e-business solution and refining the overall e-business solutions strategy.

Brawand is a veteran of the industry, bringing with him 10 years experience in the development of e-business applications. He has been instrumental in Logical`s transformation to a complete end-to-end provider of e-business solutions and services, and has been responsible for the development of key international vendor partnerships with Logical for the provision of e-business applications.

An essential component of Brawand`s e-business strategy has been to forge key industry partnerships and alliances with leading applications developers in the e-business space. These partnerships will form the backbone of Logical`s e-business solutions offering and includes alliances with BroadVision, Catalog, eBX, the SAS Institute, Siebel and Autonomy.

The e-business solutions division is one of the core elements of Logical`s global e-business integration strategy alongside the company`s e-infrastructure solutions division, led by infrastructure solutions director, Steve Moxey.

Says Stephen Lawrence, CEO of Logical: "We believe that by providing leading e-business applications and the high availability, high infrastructures on which they must run, we have an important differentiator in the international market for e-business services."

Logical`s e-business applications can be developed and integrated within a customers existing infrastructure or outsourced through Logical`s worldwide of eBOC`s (e-Business operation centres).

Says Brawand: "The development of structured and formalised value-adds around a B2B transaction is key to Logical`s success in providing tangible e-business solutions for mid-sized companies, whether as a tailored solution within a customers premises or through our e-BOC Managed Service Provider (MSP) services."

"We are forging key partnerships and alliances which, together with our existing skills base, places us in a very strong position. The programme of alliances and partnerships is well under way, strengthening Logical`s core competencies and skills."

Brawand will report directly to Lawrence.
