Westcon Group, a global channel provider of networking technology products, has secured two new global distribution agreements which further strengthen its offering and enable resellers to become more competitive. The new agreements are with Enterasys Networks, a leading provider of Business-Driven Networks for enterprise customers - and PowerDsine, a leading provider of Power over Ethernet technology.

Enterasys will provide Westcon Group with a broad line of leading-edge networking infrastructure and security products that deliver security, productivity and agility through customer-focused network solutions. With a focus on security solutions, Westcon will strongly promote the award-winning Enterasys Security Router 1800 Series (XSR-1800) and Enterasys Dragon IDS products, which provide powerful remote office networking and an integrated solution for detecting misuse and attacks, bringing the highest level of protection to the business-critical IT infrastructure.
PowerDsine plans on leveraging Westcon Group`s global reach, logistics services, and experience in high-end vertical markets - including telephony, education and government - to drive awareness and adoption for Power over LAN in IP telephony, wireless LAN and network camera installations. Power over LAN, commonly known as Power over Ethernet, is an innovative technology that allows next generation devices, including IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, Bluetooth access points and other devices, to safely and reliably receive data and power over a single standard Ethernet cable.
As a result, enterprises can deploy IP telephony, wireless LAN and other devices without the time and cost required to install separate power cabling to existing infrastructure. In addition, Power over LAN provides power management and continuous service during power outages by utilising the same centralised, uninterrupted power supply that backs up the network.
