Datatec has established a "whistle blowing" hotline in its South African operation.
The group says in its latest annual report that the hotline will also be rolled out to other subsidiaries in the group.
"The hotline provides a facility whereby employees are able to anonymously provide tip-offs of potential frauds and unethical conduct," it adds.
The step is part of Datatec`s corporate governance focus, which chairman Leslie Boyd says continued to receive the prominent attention of the board during the year.
He adds that Datatec is compliant with the King II Report on corporate governance.
Boyd writes in the annual report that Datatec expects to make a black economic empowerment (BEE) related announcement in the current financial year. He says the group is evaluating several opportunities to develop BEE partnerships for its South African interests.
Commenting on Datatec`s prospects for the current financial year, Boyd says leading economists are unanimous in the opinion that the global economy will continue to grow in the year ahead, although at a slightly slower pace.
"China will continue to be a major driving force behind this growth," he says. "In the US, growth could be curtailed somewhat by rising interest rates as the Federal Reserve moves to dampen any signs of rising inflation and to strengthen the US dollar against major currencies.
"In Japan, the world`s second largest economy, concerns about the sustainability of its recent economic revival continue and Europe continues to disappoint."
These factors indicate that global economic growth will not be free of challenges, Boyd says.
However, he adds that Datatec is well placed to respond to the challenges and sustain the return to profitability achieved in the 2005 financial year.
