The Australian government today recognised Logical Australia, part of Datatec`s Logical Group, for its contribution to the development of the country`s information and communications technology (ICT) industry.
Senator the Hon Richard Alston, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, presented Logical Australia with a certificate of recognition for its contribution to the Australian IT sector and congratulated Logical for its industry development initiatives. Specific Logical commitments have included the establishment of a regional HQ for the Asia-Pacific region in Australia, an SME support programme and an IT skills development programme.
Jens Montanana, CEO of Datatec and Logical, says the progress being made by Logical is especially pleasing given the depressed nature of the global IT sector. "At a time when IT companies are under pressure to deliver real value to their customers, the award confirms the success of Logical`s strong position in Australia as it spearheads our growth efforts in the Asian region."
Says Stuart Hendry, Managing Director of Logical Australia: "Logical`s mission is to be first in choice for networking solutions across Australia. To achieve this we are investing in developing our own skills, those of our business partners and critically, given the skills shortage, those of new entrants to the IT industry.
"We are delighted that the investment we have made in developing our Australian operations has been recognised in this way. We are determined to build on our achievements to date and will continue to both invest in and benefit from the talent of the Australian IT industry," says Hendry.
Alston further commended Logical for its continued support of local businesses and its use of Australian SMEs in the research, development and delivery of ICT products and services. "Logical has a proven track-record of working with smaller, local technology companies to help them develop their technologies and open doors that would otherwise be closed to them by virtue of their size," he said.
Logical`s Australian SME support programme provides critical business, commercial and financial support to local firms, teaming with SMEs to provide a range of services including network design and certification, installation and equipment supply, hardware repair and the management of subcontractor relationships. Logical has also developed alliances with Australian SMEs for innovative solutions for IP telephony which have export potential.
