Datatec`s Westcon launches support programme to drive convergence sales

Johannesburg, 30 Jan 2004

Datatec`s Westcon Group has launched an integrated training, services, marketing and sales support programme across all three its divisions, Westcon, Comstor and Voda One. Convergence Edge was designed to help resellers competing in the IP telephony market boost sales of convergence solutions.

Convergence Edge, the newest of the company`s branded training programmes, is an example of how Westcon Group has built a dedicated, inter-divisional resource for its resellers looking to grow their businesses in this segment. The programme was developed by a highly focused team of sales, marketing and services personnel from its Westcon, Comstor and Voda One divisions.

Eva Fujan, vice-president of sales and operations for Voda One, commented: "Ever since Westcon Group sold its first convergence solution, we have proactively been getting our staff educated and certified on convergence platforms and applications. By offering Convergence Edge to resellers, we make available an entire library of knowledge-based solutions and tools that have been in development for over two years. This is an exciting time for resellers to embrace opportunities in convergence with the full support of Westcon Group`s Convergence Edge."

Loren Brooks, vice-president, emerging channels and distribution for Nortel Networks, added: "Over the last couple of years, Westcon Group has played a key role in advancing convergence technology beyond the early adopters, and has provided extremely high quality products and support to VARs competing in this expanding market. Convergence Edge packages Westcon Group`s convergence expertise in a way that will benefit any VAR who has made the decision to compete in this exciting marketplace."

Jarrod Sipe, president and CEO of Matrix Technologies, Inc, a Washington DC-based reseller, commented: "Westcon Group, through each of its divisions, has helped us understand the risks and rewards of competing in the convergence marketplace. The company has developed the most focused, comprehensive line-up of convergence solutions in the market, bar none. Convergence Edge enables a wider reseller base to benefit from the opportunity this market brings."
