DataVoice appoints Computertel as its UK distributor

Johannesburg, 15 May 2001

In a bid to consolidate its reach into the global marketplace, DataVoice has appointed Computertel UK as its distributor for the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

A Spescom Limited subsidiary, DataVoice focuses on the research, development, production and global distribution of multimedia communications recording solutions that capture, manage and re-create transient or live information such as voice conversations, video and faxes.

Computertel, situated in Gravesend, Kent, similarly provides solutions in areas including voice recorders; call centre call recording software and agent monitoring systems.

Viv Crone, DataVoice chief executive officer, says the growth in mobile commerce and advances in speech processing and wireless technologies have dramatically increased the requirement for mobile voice-driven business - and the need to capture live information.

"We have therefore decided to expand our international sales channels structure, with the aim of broadening our service delivery through our partner network."

According to Crone, exports account for more than 70 per cent of DataVoice's sales in the information capture management/voice logging environment.

"As a value-added reseller for DataVoice, Computertel has successfully sold our products over the past two years.

"Because of Computertel's knowledge of the UK markets, its expertise in the domain and its access to high growth segments in the international market, the company has been appointed at the level of a Silver Distributor Partner in the DataVoice Partner Programme."

As a distributor of DataVoice products in the UK, Computertel will appoint sub-distributors as well as sell directly.

Computertel managing director, Phil Haynes, and sales director Chris Webb, recently visited DataVoice's Johannesburg and Stellenbosch offices. "Having set aggressive sales targets for the UK in the current year, Computertel is in the process of enhancing its training, sales and support capability.

"Computertel is also working on ISO 9000 accreditation, which will add value to the DataVoice product offering," adds Crone.
