Local enterprise software and Web-enablement specialist, Dax Data, has acquired distribution rights for a range of Internet imaging solutions from MGI that help maximise revenues and reduce costs with interactive imaging and more efficient image management on the Web.
Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says the agreement concerns MGI`s dynamic imaging and zoom technologies. "Images play a crucial role in the success of Web initiatives. However, publishing such images currently requires the processing of individual high-resolution source files into multiple static images of various sizes.
"MGI`s technology obviates the need for this by moving the image processing load to a dedicated imaging server, which automates the creation and retouching of images and dynamically publishes them from a single high-resolution source file, in real time and on demand," he explains.
Matthews says the technology allows e-businesses to grow revenues, increase the number of site visits and improve customer relationships by improving user experiences on the Internet.
"MGI ZOOM Image Server eliminates the need to create, store and manage multiple copies of the same product image. It automates processes that are currently labour-intensive and reduces the complexity of publishing images on the Internet. It also boosts Web server performance by removing the need for it to serve images," he adds.
Stephen Mold, MGI`s managing director Europe, believes ZOOM Image Server is useful for sites on which images play a critical role in influencing purchasing decisions.
"It enables consumers to zoom in and view images of an item, creating a more confident buyer who is far less likely to return what they`ve purchased. Furthermore, the product includes a report generator that can track image usage, providing valuable insight into online customer behaviour.
"Such information can be extremely valuable when it comes to merchandising because it offers vendors a clear indication of where customers` interests lie."
Matthews believes the agreement complements Dax Data`s status as the sole Allaire distributor in southern Africa - allowing Web sites and online commerce initiatives to be holistically approached. "It`s another piece of the jigsaw puzzle and one which enables organisations to maximise the resources dedicated to its Internet presence," he notes.
