By PR Connections
Johannesburg, 05 Sept 2002

Following the recent launch of the MacromediaFlash Communication Server and the Macromedia MX family of products, local Macromedia distributor and Web-enablement specialist, Dax Data, will demonstrate the new products at Computer Faire 2002 in Cape Town.

Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says the Communication Server represents the next generation of online communications. "With Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX, users can create and integrate entirely new types of interactions and experiences into their Web content.

"Functionality such as chat, streaming video, rich media messaging, and real-time collaboration can now be added into Web sites and applications.

"Streaming media presentations can be created that are seamlessly integrated with the look and feel of a company`s brand, down to the buttons and navigation," he adds.

"As with all Macromedia Flash content, the applications created with Flash Communication Server MX will load rapidly, can run from within existing HTML pages, executed by the freely available Flash Player."

The product includes components such as:

* AudioConference, which allows for the creation of multiplexed applications that provide simultaneous audio streaming from multiple users;

* Cursor, which displays a mouse pointer for each user connected to an application - as users move their mouse within the communication application, the movement is reflected on all users screens;

* RoomList, a feature that lets users create, join and delete rooms used for chat, meetings, or other types of applications. This component is useful in applications that require a lobby or that need to manage user access to applications;

* WhiteBoard that lets users create and edit text, boxes and lines in a real-time shared environment;

* SetBandwidth, which automatically adjusts the quality of microphones and cameras that are published to match the available upload bandwidth; and

* AVPresence, which can be used to create a virtual presence for users as well as in panel discussions, where a group of people converse before an audience. Using two of these components enables the creation of a video phone application.

Interested parties will be able to view and test the Flash Communication Server MX product at the Computer Faire which will take place in The Good Hope Centre in Cape Town from 18 to 21 September.
