South Africa's battle with bandwidth has just got a shot in the arm - DBAM Systems' award-winning Exbander Precision WAN Optimisation Controller products are now available through official distributor eSecure Distribution and its nation-wide resellers and VARs.
The news is especially good for small to medium-sized businesses wanting to expand their online business operations without buying costly and unnecessary bandwidth.
DBAM Systems' crown jewel is the Exbander Precision EP60 which recently won the Gold Award from Europe's foremost independent network testing facility, Broadband-Testing.
The Broadband-Testing report quoted that "while the EP60 is defined as a WAN/Internet bandwidth shaper/optimiser and traffic accelerator, it is also a first-class WAN monitoring device. Everything that goes across the WAN/Internet connection is visible and easily identified; this is the most comprehensive WAN traffic management product we have had in our labs and it is not even described as one."
John Hindley, General Manager of e-Secure, says the test report shows that when the world's best-selling voice/video conferencing solutions achieved 2:1 compression was achieved. "This means that the EP60 halved the amount of bandwidth required to take that voice/video stream across the Internet."
Data delivery solutions - such as data backup - were also accelerated dramatically. Broadband-Testing saw a 900% improvement when moving archived data files across the Internet. This level of optimisation cannot be attained by throwing more bandwidth at the problem!
The 4Mbit EP60 is aimed at companies that turnover between R200 000 and R1 million wishing to optimise Internet links out of a single office, or have two or three offices around the country running applications. It costs under R20 000, including installation, similar bandwidth optimisers cost between R50 000 and R70 000, so are out of reach to smaller enterprises.
The EP60's corporate siblings - the EP600/6000 to EP60 000 - easily handle from between 2Mbit for enterprise traffic to 1GBit at carrier class.
Broadband-Testing Laboratories' report said the EP60 "offers what we see as class-leading performance, with a unique approach to managing the traffic that makes a mockery of its low price".
It also commended the degree to which users can fine-tune "the prioritisation, performance and management of that traffic is truly phenomenal".
The Exbander Precision devices are designed to manage the efficient use of network resources and work with every network type. The EP60 is an open channel product, available through eSecure Distribution and its resellers.
