Western Digital's flagship SATA hard drives, the 3.5-inch Caviar Black series, is now available at Drive Control Corporation (DCC).
According to DCC, the hard drives are available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities, combining 7200RPM spin speeds, 3Gbps interface speeds, and 32MB cache.
DCC adds that the drives are designed to be more eco-friendly, featuring Western Digital's GreenPower technology. This reduces the drives' power consumption, so they emit less heat and run more quietly.
"Resellers will be able to offer these powerful drives as part of a high-end OEM desktop system as well as to users that require speed, capacity and performance without the resultant power consumption," says Vassen Naicker, WD product specialist at DCC.
An important security feature built into the drives, says DCC, is Western Digital's Data Lifeguard technology, which automatically finds, isolates, and repairs problems that may develop over the hard drive's life.
The drives also feature ShockGuard technology to protect them from bumps and vibrations, and damage during transit, DCC states.
