Dell promotes tech
PC and notebook maker Dell Malaysia aims to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) become more competitive, says Malaysia Star.
The company plans to do this by using technology as one of the forefronts and information as a core part of their business.
"One of Dell's initiatives is to aid SMEs to adopt IT and to make sure that people read more about successful stories of SMEs adopting IT to become more competitive," he said.
Nortel looks to SMEs
Networking vendor Nortel plans to move further into the SME space in 2008 after a successful launch in the sector last year, states Infomatics Online.
The firm, which recruited Rocom last year to help with its SME push, has already signed about 60 SME resellers and is looking for more.
Tony Bailey, VP of UK and Ireland channels at Nortel, says: "Nortel is looking to focus more on vertical markets such as healthcare, finance and government in 2008."
Uplogix seeks partners
Uplogix is proactively seeking new partners in the SME space in 2008 to take advantage of the uptake in services, reports Infomatics Online.
Mark Piening, VP of Uplogix, says: "Uplogix is more enterprise focused than SME; however, we are actively recruiting partners in this area as there is an opportunity there."
"Large enterprises may have their own departments that are able to deal with infrastructure management, however, SMEs do not," states Clive Longbottom, service director at analyst company Quocirca.
