Dell signs seven-year global services, product agreement with Bombardier Recreational Products

Flexibility cited as primary reason Bombardier chose Dell
Johannesburg, 18 Jan 2005

Dell has earned a seven-year contract from Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) to supply the snowmobile and watercraft maker with technology products and services throughout its global IT network.

The contract includes Dell servers, storage, desktops, notebooks, workstations and printers. Dell will also provide a suite of professional and managed services for multiple BRP locations worldwide.

Dell managed services to be provided include desktop support and asset and image management for more than 5 200 systems. Professional services offered include application packaging, server and storage consolidation, active directory and exchange services. The first phase of the contract is under way in Canada, the US and parts of Europe.

Flexibility and ease of doing business were key reasons why BRP chose Dell for its product and service combination.

"Customers like Bombardier Recreational Products can help improve the productivity of their IT environments and lower their costs when standardising on Dell products and services," said Rob Nunn, Head of Services at Dell SA.

"Standardising our products and services makes a lot of sense for Bombardier Recreational Products as we`re scaling our business and looking for ways to optimise our technology dollars," said Real Deslauriers, vice-president, Information Systems at Bombardier Recreational Products.

"The process was easy and we`re excited to move forward with the roll-out of these products and services."
