Dell to buy EqualLogic

Dell is to buy EqualLogic in a move that will take the PC giant deeper into storage area networking and virtualisation, reports VNU Net.

The $1.4 billion cash purchase is Dell`s largest transaction and gives it a powerful say in the fast-growing iSCSI segment, where EqualLogic has been a pioneer.

Dell has already identified iSCSI as a technology likely to provide a winning combination of performance and ease of manageability.

TalkSwitch resellers benefit

Crossover Distribution.com has announced it will distribute TalkSwitch telephone systems in a bid to provide more ordering and support options to TalkSwitch resellers, says TMC Net.

The latest agreement will provide enhanced logistical capabilities and more flexible hours to TalkSwitch resellers across Canada and the US, as they will be able to leverage Crossover`s offices in Toronto and Vancouver and its nationwide coverage.

Resellers will also be able to use Crossover`s password protected e-commerce portal for placing and tracking orders, in addition to reviewing order history and pricing rates.

C2000 plugs Acer gap

Broadline distributor Computer 2000 (C2000) has claimed its new agreement with LCD screen manufacturer Mirai will benefit resellers that have lost out following Acer`s sudden exit from the market earlier this year, reports VNU Net.

Acer abruptly discontinued its range of TVs in June, which left a gap in C2000`s portfolio and affected many resellers that were selling to the lower end of the market.

Now the distributor has signed a deal with Mirai to distribute the vendor`s full range of high-definition screens in the UK. Darren Sainsbury, AV business unit manager at C2000, insisted the agreement will help resellers.
