Deloitte hosts IT governance seminar

In response to the increasing focus companies place on IT compliance, Deloitte hosted a seminar in Kuwait on IT governance, reports AME Info.

The seminar was designed to share insight on how organisations can achieve best practices in IT while meeting wide-ranging market challenges.

"Organisations continue to face increasing regulations and pressure to run IT operations in a more cost effective and efficient manner,” says Tariq Ajmal, Deloitte partner in charge of technology services in the Middle East. “It is crucial in this environment that organisations adopt an approach to IT governance which is practical, viable and sustainable,” he added.

The Office of Information Technology recently formed a student advisory group to allow students to share thoughts and ideas about the ways technology is implemented at the North Carolina State University, says Technician Online.

The group is expected to improve IT governance on campus and ensure input and collaboration on decisions regarding IT.

According to the recent IT governance draft, many existing IT governance processes and structures at the University involve a confusing hybrid of centralised units, autonomous colleges, departments, independent research teams, individual leadership and committee consensus, resulting in conflicting policies and an inefficient use of resources.

Digi International has introduced the programmable XBee-Pro ZB, a module for ZigBee application development, reports ThomasNet News.

According to Digi, because the wireless software it provides is isolated, customers can easily develop applications with no risk to RF performance and security.

"In other programmable modules, there is risk of upsetting radio firmware or certifications during customisation because wireless code is comingled with core product code," says Larry Kraft, senior vice-president of global sales and marketing, Digi International.
