-based solutions provider UUNET SA has completed an upgrade at its Overport, Durban offices in a bid to meet the growing demand in the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Regional sales manager for KwaZulu-Natal Brad Thomas says the Durban office is focused on bringing tailor-made solutions to the KwaZulu-Natal market, which is largely dominated by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

"Market research told us that we had to bring in products for SMEs, who require cost-effective solutions around , connectivity and hosting," he says.

Thomas says the upgraded offices will allow the company to present a more professional corporate image and provide better facilities to receive customers.

"In the past, our representatives would go out to clients, but now we are able to let clients come in for demonstrations and presentations," he says.

He adds that a pick up in demand for network hosting in the region has spurred the need for the company to invite clients to its data centre.

"Through the state-of-the-art data centre, customers are guaranteed that their servers are hosted in a secure environment. This will provide them with peace of mind that their server is being fed by high-quality bandwidth, while downtime is also being eliminated."

With the large-scale pick-up in hosting demand, UUNET SA is also considering an expansion of its data centre, to ensure there is adequate hosting space with the growth that is anticipated in the near future.

The Durban office also serves the Port Elizabeth market, which has similar demands to the KwaZulu-Natal region, says Thomas.
