Devnet aids cloud transition
Brisbane-based Google enterprise partner, Devnet, has launched a six-step programme to help businesses with the transition to cloud-based computing, reports IT BRIEF.
The Cloud Ready programme was introduced at the MediaConnect Kickstart 2009 conference taking place on the Gold Coast in Australia from 22 to 24 February. Devnet CEO Craig Deveson said the programme walks prospective cloud computing users through the evaluation and costing of the transition.
The firm also plans to release a small and medium enterprises version for companies with fewer than 100 users.
Recession favours IT investments
Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric, recently said recessions are a good time to invest in technology because doing so gives small businesses a competitive edge, according to Financial Post.
With client and customer demands waning for small businesses as the economy lumbers along, this may be the moment to put downtime to good use.
Immelt says: "If you keep investing in technology and innovation in the worst of times, your competitive advantage grows.”
