DFA Solutions increases focus following acquisition by Airborne

Six months after the Airborne Group acquired DFA Solutions, the infrastructure services provider is reaping the benefits of increased focus and improved processes, and resultant efficiencies.

Says DFA founder Deon Ferrier: "Our focus prior to the acquisition was geared towards a general IT offering in terms of Web site development, network infrastructure, consulting, ISP services, project management and outsourcing. DFA have retained their focus and specialisation in Microsoft and Symantec from a software solutions perspective, and HP and Dell from a hardware perspective. Non-core activities have been stripped out and we are now primarily focused on managed services, outsourcing and network infrastructure."

DFA`s Managed Services offering is a real-time, hosted monitoring solution that provides comprehensive management and detailed status reports covering identified network devices. The integrated service centre functionality proactively alerts support staff of impending device instability or unavailability, and where critical health thresholds are breached.

The solution, which can be uniquely tailored to each client`s needs, also has a strong software asset management component, which is able to scan the network and report on the usage and validity of all installed software.

This proactively ensures legal compliance while facilitating better asset management, software standardisation and improved security. Effective "sweating" of software and hardware assets can be achieved through proactive and regular measurement of the asset status and the accurate statistics accessible through the system reports.

Ferrier says DFA`s primary strategic imperative is to be recognised as Symantec`s top Cape partner, specialising in security, storage, archiving and disaster recovery. "While we have the ability to service clients nationally, we have made significant investment in the skills and certification necessary to provide world class consulting services to Symantec clients in the Cape, hence our strategy to focus in this market."
